The bubble soap we've been getting from the store lately really stinks. As in, it doesn't make bubbles in spite of the fact that it's the one job the stuff is made to do. So today, thinking we had nothing to lose, the oldest and I whipped up a batch of it ourselves.
We used the recipe we found here.
2 cups warm water
1/3 cup dish soap (Aldi)
1/4 corn syrup (the back of the baking cupboard, not even sure why I own it)
Shake!
It really does make excellent bubbles. I wanted to post it here because I'm sure we'll be making another batch again very soon.
Interesting about adding corn syrup. Does it make bigger and longer lasting bubbles? I have a small cheap bottle in the house to entertain my cats with! Maybe I'll try your bubble recipe when I finish this bottle.
ReplyDeleteI think it gives them more "body". The store soap was breaking before the bubbles were fully formed. This made nice sturdy ones.
DeleteI use watered down washing up liquid, I think it's the same as your dish soap, much cheaper than buying the bubble stuff.
