The primary goal for this year is to have a garden that does not look like a total embarrassment. I mean, sure, eating is nice and all but the poor space has gotten so neglected that a complete overhaul is desperately needed. I feel bad for the neighbors at this point. So I'd like to approach it in a more arranged, decorative way. A fun place for the little ones and I to spend time.
Something like this. With mown paths in between the squares. The arcs are cattle panels made into trellises. This would take more space than we have but it's just an idea.
The horrid fence is coming down except for the area around the old duck coop/maternity ward. The main food-stealers around here are deer and they step right over the fence anyway.
Rough growing plan. I put in a big seed order from Baker Creek yesterday and will only need to buy potatoes and pepper transplants locally.
I would like the garden to look like this:
Anyone see the tree growing by the terra cotta pot? I didn't plant it. The weeds were so bad last summer that a tree grew and no one noticed.
The bar has been set pretty low folks.
