It's been a busy, unusual time. The college my husband teaches at now has 19 active Covid cases, he is working from home and we spent most of the past week waiting on his test results. We heard today he is negative. It was unsettling as everyone but me had a runny nose and cough, and the youngest had a small fever for awhile as well. So we were doing a lot of isolating from family and friends, missing things that we were looking forward to and worrying. But now we have results and can relax a bit. He will be teaching from home for at least the next two weeks, which is a blessing.
The seasons are changing and the weather has been beautiful.
Here is part of our yard.
I haven't been up to doing much at all and am needing several lie downs a day now due to how the baby is positioned and just being tired. And also possibly due to feeling a little down about things. I'm not used to feeling useless and it's depressing to not be able to do much physically.
The kids made adorable pumpkins last night.
And we have done some decorating inside.
I haven't felt like cooking at all or so we've been eating a lot of dinners that look like this:
What else.
We took this picture while getting a coffee from McDonald's.
My mother in law watched the little guy and sent me for a pedicure. It was my first since the last time I was pregnant and oh boy, was it needed. I got a pumpkin latte at Starbucks and spent a blissful hour sitting in a massage chair while the poor technician had his work cut out for him. It's so embarrassing when the person looks at your feet, kinda does a narrowed eyes, head tilted thing and then goes into the back to retrieve something that looks like an industrial cheese grater. I tipped well. They probably had to burn towels afterwards but now I have lady feet and love the color.
Here is our favorite recent Postcrossing card, sent by a woman in Germany who is a librarian and feeds the squirrels outside of her library.
Here are some I've sent out. The covered bridge went to a school teacher in Switzerland who uses these as a class project.
Here is something our little kindergartener brought home last week. Looking at it I asked "Honey is this a dog made out of balloons? And what's behind here? A city?" To which he said yes, it was a dog made out of metal balloons and that his art teacher's friend, Mr. Koons, makes them. Hmm...
A short time later I showed him this picture:
Me, standing on the roof of the Metropolitan museum in New York, circa 2008 (good lord, the hair!). In front of Mr. Koons' balloon dog. It's so odd how life works sometimes, that balloon dog was only there for a few short months that year and it was the first time my husband and I were in the city together.
Something else he brings home from kindergarten every day:
Colored pictures of the Saint of the day, more often then not martyred. So the dog balloon was a particularly delightful change.
Bee has been putting in extra time brushing up on her Aunting skills. I'm scheduled to be induced later in the week. Truth be told, I think it's worse knowing when it's going to happen. I've been extremely nervous about being away from the kids and very worried about things going badly. At least I know now that my husband can be there, which was up in the air pending his test results. I just wish it were all over with, honestly, and the baby and I were already back home.
So that's what's new here. Things will be very different a week from now.
I can imagine your nervous feeling. Good luck. We will be awaiting the next blog (our part is easier than yours:-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your MIL sent you for some me time, sounds delightful, the seasons has fully changed now, summer is gone this year. You son's picture is very uncanny, I love you had your photo to show him. It's a scary time waiting for results, our friends were in the same position as your hubby they had the same results, at least he's home for a while. Can't wait to read your next adventure with a new baby, our daughter both time had her date fixed, it was good not to have the last minute panic. Good luck, see you when you are a family of five xxx
